For the adventurous souls who seek a wedding day as thrilling and unique as their love story, the trend of adventure elopements has become an exhilarating alternative to traditional ceremonies. Picture exchanging vows atop a mountain, beside a cascading waterfall, or on a windswept beach. If the idea of an intimate and daring celebration resonates with you, read on for a look at what a 5 hour adventure elopement in Lake Tahoe looks like with me!
Just because you want to elope doesn’t mean you have to give up on adding unique details into your wedding day. For instance this stunning bouquet traveled with us all over Tahoe, and was the perfect pop of color to contrast the pine tree forests and crystal blue water.
Some people decide to forego any “getting ready” photos on their elopement day, but I believe every little moment deserves to be captured.
Along with being your photographer I can also double as a designated driver, so if you want to partake in a little champagne to get your day started off right, GO FOR IT!
Just because you’re staying in the same Air BNB or hotel doesn’t mean you have to forego a first look, especially if there is a spiral staircase available (so gorgeous)! You can also utilize some of the other spaces in your residence for some moments alone or as unique portrait locations.
Planning the perfect day
M & A decided to legally marry before their trip to Lake Tahoe, but they still wanted to exchange vows and capture a day exploring the lake in their wedding attire. I worked hand in hand with them to scout locations, create a timeline, and decide what were their most important moments to capture.
In May 2023, when this elopement occurred, Lake Tahoe still had a decent amount of snow so some locations were not easily accessible to us. However these two were absolute champs and braved cooler than normal temperatures, mud, puddles, and ice to make their day memorable and capture stunning views.
We adventured to Skylandia State Park for the forest and beach views, Emerald Bay State Park for gorgeous overlooks, and Valhalla for a different beach setting to watch the sun set.

Whether you choose a mountaintop, a desert, or a secluded beach, the essence of an adventure elopement lies in crafting a day that speaks to your hearts and leaves you with memories as vast and wild as your love. So, gear up, embrace the thrill, and embark on love’s greatest adventure!
